Housing Development
Census data and Sheen Housing's experience within its service area
led us to identify several concerns which must be addressed.
Chiefly, these are:
- affordable housing
- safe, adequate, quality housing
- housing for families
- housing that meets the needs of the aged
- housing for persons with diabilities
- energy efficient housing / green build
- community knowledge of state and federal housing programs
Sheen Housing is instrumental in facilitating housing development
loan funds for construction costs to not-for-profit organizations
serving low-income families. Recently, Sheen Housing completed a senior assisted living project in Fairport, Monroe County, and a family townhouse project in Waterloo, Seneca County.
We also initiated and completed development of a senior assisted living project in Henrietta; a senior independent
project in Bloomfield; sponsored an acquisition and rehabilitation
project in the City of Rochester; and initiated feasibility studies
for other housing development.
Where there is a special housing need, Sheen Housing strives to
serve the community.
Here are several projects initiated or assisted by the Bishop Sheen
Ecumenical Housing Foundation:
- Brentland Woods, Henrietta,
N.Y.
- Bloomfield Meadows, Bloomfield,
N.Y.
- Fort Hill Apartments, Canandaigua,
N.Y.
- Scottsville Hollow, Scottsville,
N.Y.
- The Northfield, Fairport,
N.Y.
- Elizabeth Crossings, Waterloo, N.Y.
